Unveiling Accessibility to Japan's Undiscovered Treasures: A Collaboration Between Klook and Hoshino Resorts
In a bid to promote sustainable tourism and secure the long-term future of Japan's tourism ecosystem, Klook, Asia's leading platform for experiences and travel services, has partnered with Japan's Hoshino Resorts. This collaboration aims to make regional Japan more accessible, especially the lesser-known gems that are experiencing a surge in interest among Asia Pacific travelers.
According to Klook's recent Travel Pulse survey, there is a notable surge in interest among travelers for off-the-beaten-path destinations in Japan. The destinations experiencing the most rapid rise in demand are Kunigami in Okinawa Prefecture, Nagakute near Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, Usu in Hokkaido, and various locations within Hokkaido itself.
This shift is driven by a desire among travelers to escape crowds, enjoy authentic local experiences, and explore Japan's rich regional diversity. To lower barriers to these emerging destinations, Klook and Hoshino Resorts have introduced co-designed Stay+ bundles. These packages combine stays at traditional KAI ryokans (Japanese inns) with seamless rail travel and local experiences, all bookable with multilingual support and instant confirmation.
Wataru Masuda, General Manager of Klook Japan, believes this partnership will raise awareness of Japan's diverse natural and cultural offerings in regional areas. Yoshiharu Hoshino, CEO of Hoshino Resorts, emphasizes the importance of guiding travelers deeper into regional areas to achieve tourism dispersion.
The bundles are mapped to 21 KAI properties located in places like Poroto in Hokkaido, Tsugaru in Tohoku, or Okuhida in the Japanese Alps. The partnership plans to expand with more hotel brands from Hoshino Resorts.
Klook also plans to leverage AI tools to help travelers plan and book local travel experiences directly on the platform. The collaboration is being rolled out in Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and Korea, with more markets to follow. For media enquiries, contact [email protected].
The partnership between Klook and Hoshino Resorts is committed to connecting travelers with authentic local experiences beyond Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, and to promoting sustainable tourism through regional travel in Japan, helping to ease overcrowding while driving fresh demand to up-and-coming destinations.
Travelers showing a preference for authentic local experiences and off-the-beaten-path destinations have sparked a significant interest in Japan's lesser-known regions, such as Kunigami in Okinawa Prefecture, Nagakute near Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, and Usu in Hokkaido. To facilitate access to these emerging destinations, Klook and Hoshino Resorts have created Stay+ bundles, offering stays at traditional ryokans, seamless rail travel, and local experiences, all bookable with multilingual support and instant confirmation.
