Tranquil Seashore Escape: Unwinding at Seaham Hall

Escape to the Cliffside Dream: Seaham Hall

Nestled on the cliff tops of County Durham, Seaham Hall offers a magnificent retreat for those seeking serenity and tranquility. This exquisite Georgian house, brimming with history, served as the backdrop for Lord Byron's 1815 wedding to Annabella Milbanke. As I checked in, I couldn't help but feel the weight of history as I prepared for an unforgettable stay in the Milbanke suite.

Upon entering my suite, I was left speechless by the breathtaking decor, the opulent plum and gold color palette, and the luxurious bathroom complete with a grand Victoria & Albert bathtub and a walk-in shower. The panoramic view of the picturesque gardens left me awestruck.

A Heavenly Seaham Retreat: Suites and Lodges

The Milbanke suite is just one of several suites designed with unique themes. Each suite offers every indulgence you would expect from a luxury hotel, as well as unexpected delights like custom dressing gowns and fluffy slippers. The suites also boast enticing bathroom amenities by Temple Spa, ensuring a spa-like experience from the comfort of your own room.

If you're in search of a more intimate and secluded getaway, consider the beachfront Coastal Lodges, each equipped with hot tubs and sleeping quarters for up to four guests. For a truly enchanting experience, the Ada Lovelace suite, named after Lord Byron's daughter, offers a mezzanine layout with stunning views of the property's gardens.

A Spa Experience Like No Other at Serenity Spa

Seaham Hall's award-winning Serenity Spa is not to be missed. Offering an extensive menu of rejuvenating treatments, the spa boasts cutting-edge facilities like a salt sauna, eucalyptus steam room, cold plunge pool, hot tubs, and a 20-meter swimming pool. After my "top-to-toe" ritual, I emerged feeling completely replenished and rejuvenated.

A Dining Experience You'll Never Forget

Whether you fancy a culinary adventure or a relaxed evening, the resort's pan-Asian restaurant, Ozone, is the perfect destination. Surrounded by beauty and offering the option of dining in your robe, you'll be able to savor flavors like steamed gyozas, spicy Szechuan stir-fry, and steamed pork bao buns. For those in search of a more formal dining experience, The Dining Room offers an elegant ambiance and a menu filled with delectable dishes.

Embark on a Hunt for Sea Glass by the Sea

During your stay, take a leisurely stroll along the coastline. As you wander, don't forget to look down! The area is famous for its abundance of glittering "sea glass" - shards of waste glass discarded by factories in the Victorian and Edwardian eras, which now make for stunning collectibles and crafting materials.

Kalpana enjoyed her stay as a guest of Seaham Hall. Nightly rates for a junior suite, including breakfast, start from £299. Be sure to book your escapade to the cliffside haven at seaham-hall.co.uk!
