Top-notch Family Camping Tip: Exploring Upscale Camping Spots in the Pacific Northwest

Attention Seekers!

Get ready for the ultimate family escapade, as we delve into the wild, wild world of glamping – where luxurious tents, stylish cabins, and plush accommodations take conventional camping up a notch!

We recently embarked on a glamping adventure at Lakedale Resort on San Juan Island. Our 3-year-old little explorer found heaven in our canvas cottage, complete with a full bathroom, running water, and a king-size daybed – no cramped tents or air mattresses in sight! This was glam-tastic camping, baby!

Glamping? A genius hack for families like us, offering everything we love about camping and none of the things we don't. No more stressing over pitching a tent or hunting down porta-potties. Sweet relief!

Our San Juan Island Glamping Adventure

After grabbing our check-in documents at the resort lodge, we made our way to the canvas cottage, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Rain tapped against our canvas roof on Saturday morning, but a friendly staff member reminded us that you gotta love the weather in Washington – if you don't like it now, just wait 10 minutes!

We started our day with breakfast in the mess hall before heading to the activity tent for a morning of tie-dyeing T-shirts. Our handmade masterpieces dried overnight, and we took home souvenirs to treasure. Our afternoon rowboat ride on Neva Lake was peaceful, with us casting lines and taking in the scenery.

Back on land, little mini-me couldn't resist the lawn games by the dock – we played a round of Connect Four before exploring even more ways to play by Dream Lake, complete with a volleyball court, giant chess and checker boards, bocce ball, and horseshoes.

A trip down memory lane

We borrowed bikes from the bike rack for a mini trip down memory lane, with our pint-sized cyclist cruising on a pink Radio Flyer tricycle. A dip in the swimming beach at Dream Lake was a refreshing touch, followed by some old-school entertainment – we traded screen time for games like "Go Fish!" and played with a cute deck of cards from the general store.

Don't forget the marshmallows, because roasting s'mores over the campfire by night was a highlight of the trip. My little one eagerly sandwiched chocolate, marshmallow, and graham crackers, oozing sweetness onto her hands. Totally worth the minimal clean-up in the cottage bathroom!

Exploring San Juan Island

Glamping isn't all about the tent – there's plenty to explore in the area. We headed into Friday Harbor for a picnic dinner before driving to Lime Kiln Point State Park for whale sightings. No problem if we didn't see whales – the park's gorgeous coastline and lighthouse views made for a picturesque evening.

In the heart of the Pacific Northwest

Our cosy canvas cottage was a haven amidst the nearby tents and cottages. Lakedale Resort features a wide range of accommodations, from classic campsites to log cabins, ensuring that every glamper finds their perfect spot in the great outdoors.

Lakedale Resort offered the perfect mix of adventure and luxury, making it the ultimate glamping spot. And with more Pacific Northwest glamping destinations on our travel bucket list, we can't wait for our next family escapade!

So, gather 'round, y'all, and get ready to embrace nature in comfort and style – it's time to glamp it up!
