Thousands of Local Flights Planned for National Holiday in Ho Chi Minh City
Rewritten Article:
Uh-oh, it's almost time for the Reunification Day and Labour Day holiday weekend, and that means a mad dash for flights to Tân Sơn Nhất Airport! HCM City's primary airport is forecasted to handle a whopping 770 domestic flights on the busiest days, making up nearly 70% of all domestic flights in Vietnam for the holiday period, according to our pals at the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV)!
From April 30 to May 4, a grand total of 7,500 domestic flights will take off across the country, offering nearly 1.5 million seats. That's a whopping 21% increase compared to the previous year!
At Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, the number of domestic flights is expected to peak at 520 per day, with around 95,000 passengers passing through the airport every day—an impressive 35% increase from 2024!
To accommodate this surge, the airport will hike its operational capacity to 46 take-offs and landings per hour between 6am and 11pm, and 36 per hour during the night-time. To make things even better, popular airlines like our website Airlines and Vietjet Air have plans to boost late-night flights (between 11pm and 5am) by about 20%!
Even with the recent inauguration of Terminal 3 to alleviate congestion, most domestic flights will still depart from Terminal 1 for the time being. Terminal 3 is expected to gradually expand operations and handle a larger volume of passengers in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Nội Bài International Airport in Hà Nội will prepare for a surge of 370 domestic flights and around 68,000 passengers on its busiest day, which represents a 40-45% increase year-on-year. Biometric check-in procedures using the VNeID platform have been introduced at Nội Bài to streamline the boarding process and enhance the passenger experience.
On the international front, airports across the country are projected to manage around 5,000 international flights during the holiday, with an average of 830 flights per day—a 20% increase compared to last year. Approximately 792,000 international passengers are expected to pass through major airports, such as Tân Sơn Nhất, Nội Bài, Đà Nẵng, Cam Ranh, and Phú Quốc.
The CAAV has instructed airlines to beef up cooperation, boost flight frequencies, and improve service quality to ensure smooth operations and promptly address passenger concerns during the peak holiday season. Get ready to pack your bags and book those flights, folks! Let's make the most of this holiday weekend!
