"Signs prohibiting public nudity installed on the Full Moon Party island in Thailand"
KICKING BUCK NAKED OFF KOH PHANGAN
Forget about frolicking in the buff on Koh Phangan – the island where the legendary full moon parties brighten up the night – as public nudity ain't welcomed here anymore.
Local authorities have put up signs and handed out leaflets, like free porn-blockers, to tourists, businesses, hotels, and restaurants at Zen Beach and Secret Beach, warning them about the consequences of being caught bear-ass.
Yup, you read that right – get caught flashing in public, and say goodbye to your visa, as the Koh Phangan police chief, Pol Col Apichart Chansamret, announced.
Locals have been complaining about foreign tourists getting their kielbasa out at Secret Beach and Zen Beach, enjoying some sun, swim, music, and drawing while completely au naturel. According to Pol Col Apichart, these tourists come to the island for some r&r, lured by word of mouth, only to disrespect the local culture by stripping down.
Koh Phangan resident Thawil Ruangthong stated that the island sees a wide range of folk, some of whom forget their manners and indulge in public nudity.
The ban on public nudity crackdown follows the arrest of a dyed-in-the-wool Polish couple who were spotted getting close and personal in the middle of the road and later at Ban Kai Beach. Immigration authorities also revoked their visas after the incident, making it clear that this behavior ain't tolerated on the island.
So, if you're heading to Koh Phangan for some fun in the sun, remember to keep it, well, more clothed. Otherwise, say goodbye to your beach vacation and that oh-so-expensive visa.
Here's a little reminder, just in case – mess around with potential nudity, and you'll face a fine of up to 5,000 baht. Cha-ching!
