Saint Maur's students under Hilda's tutelage to dictate terms

The 32nd "Dictionaries Juniors International" Competition took a fun twist in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Pforzheim's French twin town. Two outstanding students from the Hilda-Gymnasium – Leonie Pepler and Jule Kieffer – dived headfirst into the fray this year. This competition is all about deciphering an unknown French text as accurately as humanly possible. Students from the host city, Saint-Maur, and partner cities participate in this unique event.

Once the contest concluded, a grand ceremony and a formal dinner followed suit, graced by Dominique Soulis, the Deputy Mayor of Saint-Maur, local authorities, and guests from different participating cities. Patricia Thoraval, a dedicated volunteer coordinating Pforzheim and Hameln's partnerships, joined in the celebrations alongside the French host families of the participants. The lively chatter and intellectual exchange among the young participants got the duo from Pforzheim real pumped!

With Paris just a short hop away, the Hilda students seized the opportunity to explore the city on the Sunday morning before their return. Along with their cherished host family, they savored the French capital's attractions like a true Parisian! Leonie Pepler opined it to be "a golden opportunity to learn about the city's charm from the locals. It made our connection with the French language and the history of Paris that much stronger."

The competition provided the perfect platform to practice French with natives, reinforcing their language skills learned in school. They expressed their gratitude towards their host family's remarkable hospitality and urged everyone to seize such chances.
