Get Ready to Immerse Yourself in the Wonders of Russian Literature on Russian Language Day!
On the 6th of June, a day devoted to the revered Russian poet, Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, Yakutsk will play host to a series of captivating events.
Traditionally, the day kicks off with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin memorial, followed by the presentation of the Professor Nikolai Georgievich Samsonov Award – an honor bestowed upon those dedicated to preserving, studying, and nurturing native languages.
After the ceremony, the renowned Russian Pushkin Theater will host an extraordinary performance of the timeless classic, "Eugene Onegin."
Theatre maestros, Alexander Lobanov, the director and artistic director of the Pushkin Theater, have gone the extra mile to select this masterpiece for the Russian Language Day performance. This choice derives from the rich linguistic tapestry woven by Pushkin in "Onegin," as Lobanov describes it – a singular literary marvel, a stunning, unique poetic style.
Furthermore, the performance's timing coincides with the visit of esteemed representatives from the National Theater Award 'Golden Mask,' whose shortlist our production has been nominated for. Experts Larisa Kanevskaya and Anna Grogoly have already seen the production, and we anxiously await word on whether our 'Onegin' will be granted the coveted main prize.
As for the cast, Stepan Fedorenko takes on the role of the complex protagonist, Eugene Onegin, while Maria Larina brings Tatyana's heart-wrenching passion to life. The entire theatre ensemble contributes to this riveting production, which has garnered the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the ANO "Russian Seasons."
