Reinvented Hollywood Landscape Sets New Benchmark for W Brand: An Inside Look at the Redefinition
W Hollywood: A Modern Oasis in the Heart of Hollywood
The W Hollywood, nestled in the bustling heart of Hollywood, offers an unparalleled experience for travellers seeking luxury, comfort, and a prime location for exploring the city.
Upon entering the hotel, guests are greeted by an eclectic lobby and bar area, featuring an intriguing mix of shapes and patterns that create a striking and memorable design. The lobby leads to a patio extending behind the bar, providing additional outdoor space.
The rooms at W Hollywood boast a luxury apartment feel, with features like papered feature walls behind the bed and a comfy window seat perfect for relaxing with a book. The bed in the room was larger than advertised, ensuring a comfortable sleep. The bathroom, while not boasting an oversized rainfall showerhead, was well-equipped with MOMO products, a hair dryer, and a steamer. A little tray underneath the mirror in the entrance offered easy storage for personal items.
The W Hollywood's gym is a standout feature, offering state-of-the-art equipment and ranking among the best gym facilities the author has encountered in W hotels. Unfortunately, despite the author's expectation, the gym does not currently hold a fifth star due to California regulations for giving hotel stars.
The W Hollywood's rebranding is subtle yet impactful, toning down from its previous tongue-in-cheek sexy aesthetic to a sleek and sophisticated look. The hotel also offers an impressively good rooftop pool space for a city hotel, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and soaking up the Hollywood sun.
The W Hollywood is part of the Marriott brand and can be booked through their website or app. For those with Marriott Bonvoy points, a 3-night stay in August can be booked using 141,000 points, equivalent to 47,000 points per night. The lowest rate for a single night stays around $350.
W Hollywood is conveniently located on Hollywood Boulevard, close to the Hollywood sign and the Hollywood/Vine Metro station, making it the perfect base for exploring Hollywood. The hotel also offers excellent public transport links and valet parking access on Argyle Avenue.
As part of Marriott's ongoing efforts to redefine luxury hospitality under the W banner, the W Hollywood's rebranding is part of a wider rebranding and refurbishment of W Hotels. The new W standard aims to balance modern luxury with a strong sense of local identity and iconic style, as seen in the Hollywood example where the brand’s global identity was maintained but tailored to a vibrant, location-specific persona.
The timeline for W Hotels rebranding and refurbishment is primarily active from 2024 through 2025, with ongoing rollouts and marketing initiatives. The new W standard focuses on modern luxury combined with localized design and experiences, a rejuvenated visual identity, enhanced digital and social engagement, and collaboration with top-tier designers to create distinctive, culturally resonant environments.
With its exceptional service, prime location, and luxurious amenities, the W Hollywood is a must-visit destination for any traveller looking to experience the best of Hollywood. The author, having enjoyed their stay, looks forward to visiting their tenth W hotel soon.
