Rain-soaked Week ending 6-1-25 marked by Organ Seminars

A Soggy Week Turns Delightful

Stuck indoors due to relentless rainfall, we spent our week tidying up while Thomas recuperated from wisdom teeth surgery. But by the weekend, we were on a roll!

Monday-Thursday: A Rainy Clean Sweep

We delved into a massive de-cluttering mission! Everyone emptied their closets and I tackled my nightstand drawer, filled with heartfelt notes, sketches, and keepsakes from the kids.Over 100 little slips of paper from Alexis, left behind when she went off to college, have been my daily delight since. Each one contains a poem, a task, something nice about me, a song, or a little sweet surprise. I'd been hoarding these gems for three years and now it's time to turn them into a cherished scrapbook.

While the rain paused, Tilly and I planted a Chinese Fringe flower, hoping to replace the one that perished last year. A splash of purple would be a welcome addition to our lush, verdant yard.

Snapping a couple of quick shots for my sister Lori, I showcased our healthy meal: purple lettuce, herbal turmeric chicken, and wild rice. She'd clued me in that turmeric, number two on the cancer-fighting food list, is a lifesaver! We're making it the star of our meals.

Friday: A Whirlwind Escapade to Raleigh

Friday found us driving to Raleigh for a two-day organ workshop. After a spot at the temple, which didn't get captured on camera (oops!), we relished the tranquility it always offers. Then we snagged lunch at a playful park before checking into our hotel and indulging in a swim and supper.

The organ workshop, a captivating blend of music and education, followed. Next, popcorn, chocolate, and bedtime joined us for the finale!

I extended an invitation to our older kids to share in the fun.

Saturday: Organ Extravaganza

Dropping off four kids at the workshop, I ran into a dear friend from our Greenville days. Like Katilyn, she plays the organ at her church congregation. Then, Tilly and I enjoyed a delightful day together, recharging our batteries at the fitness center and reading side by side. After a pedal boarding and kayaking adventure, we reunited with the kids at 2 and drove west.

With Thomas collecting the kids and heading to Florida, I stayed behind to put the chickens to bed and prepare for a week dedicated to my business.

A blissful escape, free from chores, bills, meals, and laundry, we soaked up every moment together. The peace and serenity of the lake, with Tilly as our sweet companion, made it a dreamlike retreat.

We delved into a project to turn the heartfelt notes, sketches, and keepsakes from the kids I've been hoarding for three years into a cherished scrapbook, as a form of self-development and remembrance.

Our journey also included a weekend trip to Raleigh, where we attended an organ workshop, a captivating blend of music and education, and enjoyed food-and-drink at a playful park, indulging in a swim and supper at the hotel. Additionally, we had a home-and-garden adventure by replacing a perished Chinese Fringe flower with a new one in our yard and embarking on a kayak expedition. The week concluded with a relaxation day dedicated to lifestyle choices, spending time at the fitness center and reading side by side.
