Vasily Shaykharziev, who was once the mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny and now serves as the deputy prime minister of Tatarstan, spoke with the news agency "RIA Novosti" about the upcoming federal Sabantuy in Yakutia. It's worth noting that Nizhnekamsk is hard at work with the preparations.

  • This year's federal Sabantuy will take place on June 14 in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where approximately 6,000 Tatars live. Our dedicated organizers, including those from the Nizhnekamsky District and TATPOTREBOSOYUZ, have been at the site for several days now. In fact, we've managed to secure a massive cauldron from Kazan, capable of cooking shurpa for 4,000 guests (that's 12 lambs in one pot)! Besides, we've brought a 300-liter samovar, cracking open the potential for guests to taste a hot cup of tea and snap a few souvenir photos.

Shaykharziev pointed out that we might expect quite a crowd.

  • Of course, it's fantastic news that the President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aisen Nikolaev, is personally spearheading the Sabantuy organizing committee. During our visit to Yakutsk for the 100th anniversary of the republic's founding, we were left in awe by their celebration of the national holiday of Ысыах. They inaugurated a Kazan Square in the city center and erected a bust of Tatar poet Musa Jalil. Celebrating the Sabantuy represents a continuation of our collaboration. I think we're all set. The bond between Yakuts and Tatars means a great deal to us. We eagerly invite everyone to join us and witness the revelry, - said Shaykharziev.
