'Sup there, folks!

Listen up, 'cause we got some juicy deets on Oktoberfest's new boss, Christian Scharpf. You might know him as the Wiesnchef - yep, that's Oktoberfest speaks for itself. Anyways, he's moving into a hotel smack-dab in the middle of the action during the festivities. He ain't messing around, man!

Scharpf shared that he's secured a room right next to the Oktoberfest grounds himself without any expense accounting shenanigans. According to him, being on-site 24/7 is crucial during the peak of the festival.

Early bird gets the worm (or the security briefing)

It ain't a holiday, and Scharpf is🙃. The 53-year-old SPD politician, who also snagged the role of economic affairs rep in March, usually crashes at home in Maxvorstadt district. But during the Oktoberfest, the mass transits and train stations around the festivities are as crowded as a mosh pit at a metal concert. Walking to the festival isn't much better - think stop-and-go madness.

As the fest's point man, Scharpf needs to rise and shine early - like, before the sun's even up! "My day kicks off with a security briefing from the authorities," Scharpf spilled. He's got a jam-packed itinerary for the rest of the day, jumping from one meeting to another, ensuring everything runs like a well-oiled machine. No pressure or anything, huh?

Following in footsteps... er, hotel room

Scharpf ain't the first Wiesnchef to choose the hotel life. His predecessor, Clemens Baumgaertner from the CSU, also dug this idea, booking a room near the festival grounds for the first time back in 2022. The reason? Community emergency situations nighttime won't halt his operations. And let's be real – for a guy in charge of the world's biggest folk fest, the days are long and the nights are shorter still. Talk about commitment!
