New tourist attraction unveiled in Black Sea city: thrilling rafting spot to spur tourism growth
A fresh 10-kilometer long rafting course, which snakes its way through the fierce waters of two neighboring streams, has just been unveiled in the northern district of Hayrat, Trabzon, aiming to draw hordes of local and international thrill-seekers this summer. The new rafting park, set amidst the picturesque landscapes of the Black Sea province, aspires to augment the region's growing adventure tourism sector.
The newly inaugurated rafting park, christened within the confines of the Hayrat district, consists of four distinct segments offering an exhilarating experience for nature enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies alike. Following the grand opening ceremony, a 2.5-kilometer stretch of the course commenced its service to rafters.
Operating daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the adventurous course promises an immersive, secure, and exhilarating rafting experience designed to cater to visitors seeking a unique travel destination. The project's impetus lies behind Gökhan Çakır, a veteran tourism operator, who recognized the potential of the region’s rivers for rafting activities.
"I have spent the last 25 years in the tourism industry, contemplating additional activities to offer my clients. Born and raised in these streams, my deep-rooted knowledge of Hayrat's rivers enabled me to recognize their suitability for rafting," he remarked.
The initiative, endorsed by the governor's office and sanctioned by the relevant authorities, is primed for full-scale operation within 20 days. With the ambition to welcome around 100,000 visitors this season, the park's operators are eager to provide an alternative for Middle Eastern tourists who currently journey 200 kilometers to Rize's Ayder Plateau for rafting.
Local constituents, including sports enthusiasts and students, have offered positive feedback for the new facility. Sportsman Akın Değirmenci deemed it "a valuable addition to the city," while Senem Tekin highlighted its safety features, and Bahadır Demirci described it as "a thrilling adventure in a river well-adapted for rafting."
In near proximity, established rafting tours in Çeçeva and Fırtına Valley adhere to standard safety measures, such as offering proper guidance, holding safety briefings, and supplying safety equipment. It is likely that similar protocols will be enforced at the new Hayrat rafting park to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
Enthused by the successful launch of the rafting park in Hayrat, tourists may now incorporate an adrenaline-pumping travel experience into their lifestyle. In addition to enhancing the area's adventure tourism sector, the new rafting park caters to sports enthusiasts seeking thrilling outdoor activities.
