Unveiling America's Natural Wonders: A Tour of National Parks Across the United States

The United States is home to 63 national parks, each offering a unique slice of the country's rich natural and cultural heritage. These parks, spread across various states and U.S. territories, can be explored with the America the Beautiful Pass.

In Alaska, eight national parks, including Denali, Gates of the Arctic, and Wrangell-St. Elias, welcome pass holders. Arizona boasts the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, and Saguaro National Parks. California is home to nine national parks, such as Yosemite, Sequoia, and Redwood.

The pass also grants access to national parks in other states like Colorado (Rocky Mountain, Mesa Verde, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Great Sand Dunes), Florida (Biscayne, Everglades, and Dry Tortugas), and Hawaii (Haleakalā and Hawai'i Volcanoes).

Notable parks in the western United States include Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion National Parks in Utah; Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks in Washington; and Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in Wyoming.

In the southern part of the country, Big Bend and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks in Texas, Congaree National Park in South Carolina, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park (shared with Tennessee) offer breathtaking landscapes and historical significance.

New Mexico's national parks include Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Valles Caldera National Preserve, Capulin Volcano National Monument, and Chaco Culture National Historical Park.

Eastern states are not left out, with Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, Acadia National Park in Maine, and Isle Royale National Park in Michigan. Other notable parks include Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania, and Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota.

In addition, some U.S. territories like American Samoa and the Virgin Islands have national parks that accept the pass. These include the National Park of American Samoa and Virgin Islands National Park in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Christiansted National Historic Site in the Virgin Islands.

The America the Beautiful Pass, while not covering state parks, provides access to entrance fees for all these national parks and many other federal recreation sites. It is important to note that a 2025 executive order increased entrance fees for foreign visitors but maintained benefits for U.S. residents holding this pass.

For the most current and complete details, visitors are encouraged to visit the National Park Service website for park-specific information on fees and pass acceptance.
