The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch, ride-by-wire throttle, and electronic fuel injection.

The Thruxton 400 boasts quality chassis components, including 43mm USD forks with about 135-140 mm travel, a rear gas monoshock with around 130 mm travel, and dual-channel ABS brakes. The bike's wet weight is around 170-183 kg, with a seat height near 795-798 mm, and a 13-liter fuel tank. The bike is claimed to have a top speed of about 161 km/h, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in about 6.7 seconds.

The riding stance is sporty, with clip-on handlebars and a forward-leaning position, suited for a retro café racer style with modern performance and features. The bike features a sculpted fuel tank, aggressive riding posture, sleek rear seat cowl, bar-end mirrors, and clip-on handlebars.
