Krasnodar resident Proshchenko journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean, carrying the Kuban flag, as part of an exploration voyage.
The 'Brotherhood-2025-2026' sailing expedition, aimed at strengthening international ties and popularising maritime research, has concluded its first leg in Murmansk, Russia. The yacht Fraternidade, which set sail from Brazil, navigated through the Atlantic, Iceland, Spitsbergen, and faced numerous challenges along the way.
The journey was fraught with navigation equipment breakdowns, storms, and waves reaching 2.8 meters at times. During two dangerous moments, the yacht's captain, Yevgeny Proshenko, had to take reefs on the sails and sometimes turn off the heating to ensure safety. Despite these challenges, the captain's experience and the team's cohesive efforts ensured the safe arrival of Fraternidade in Murmansk.
Upon arrival, the damaged sail was sent for repair to prepare the yacht for the next leg of the expedition, which will navigate the Northern Sea Route to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The expedition is timed to coincide with the 180th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society and the 200th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Brazil.
It is worth noting that while Yevgeny Proshenko's involvement in the expedition has been confirmed, there is no direct mention of him in the 'Brotherhood-2025-2026' expedition news. Similarly, no reference to a journey with the Kuban flag, a symbol of Proshenko's homeland, has been found in the official expedition coverage.
The expedition is organised under the auspices of BRICS and the Eurasian Media Group. Upon arrival in Murmansk, the flag was solemnly returned to Krasnodar and handed over to the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
Meanwhile, a separate development sees a Russian sailor, who had been out of contact for over a week, nearing the end of his journey in Argentina.
The 'Brotherhood-2025-2026' expedition is a significant undertaking, symbolising the historical and diplomatic ties between Russia and Brazil. As the yacht Fraternidade prepares for its next leg, the journey continues to capture the imagination of maritime enthusiasts worldwide.
After the successful conclusion of the first leg in Murmansk, the yacht Fraternidade, with its seasoned captain Yevgeny Proshenko, will now embark on a travel through the Northern Sea Route, merging its journey with sports challenges as it navigates towards Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This multifaceted expedition, combining lifestyle experiences, maritime research, and sports adventure, is a strong reflection of Proshenko's passion for sailing and his commitment to strengthening the bonds between Russia and Brazil.
