Kazakh Passport Holders Granted Visa-Free Access to 46 Nations

The Global Passport Power Rank, a system that ranks countries based on their passport mobility, has placed Kazakhstan in the 63rd position worldwide for 2025. This represents an improvement from last year's ranking of 54th [1].

With a mobility score of 95, Kazakhstan's passport allows its citizens to visit approximately 79 countries visa-free or with a visa on arrival [3]. This includes a diverse range of destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Visa-Free Access

Countries offering visa-free access for Kazakh passport holders include:

  • European nations such as Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and Vatican City [1].
  • Asian countries like China, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Iran, Israel, and Kazakhstan's neighboring Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Mongolia [2].
  • American countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Suriname [2].
  • African countries including Morocco, Tunisia, Tanzania, Kenya (visa on arrival), Côte d’Ivoire, and Cameroon (visa on arrival) [2].

Visa on Arrival

In addition, Kazakh citizens can access countries offering visa on arrival, such as Costa Rica, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Zambia, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Israel, Cameroon, Cambodia, and more [2].

Kazakhstan's increased travel freedom is also evident in its expanding visa-free policy. The country has recently allowed citizens of 56 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, India, Japan, and Australia, visa-free entry to Kazakhstan for periods up to 30 days (and longer for some countries) [1][4][5].

At the top of the Global Passport Power Rank is the United Arab Emirates, with a mobility score that allows its citizens to visit 133 destinations visa-free. At the other end of the spectrum, countries like Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria occupy the bottom positions [1].

While Kazakhstan's passport mobility is moderate globally, it is ahead of its regional peers, such as Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which rank lower in the global mobility ranking [3]. However, it lags behind top-ranking passports from Europe and Asia. Nonetheless, the increasing travel freedom enjoyed by Kazakh citizens demonstrates progress in diplomatic ties and travel accessibility.
