Hiking Enthusiasts Cheer as Admirer of Hilders Basks in Ideal Weather for Rhöner Walking Day

The Rhön Hiking Day 2025, held in conjunction with the Hilders Home Festival, was a resounding success, according to Torsten Raab, head of the Hessian administrative office of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön. The event, which took place from August 8 to 11, saw the town of Hilders open its doors to hikers from far and wide, offering a family-friendly program that was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The close cooperation between the municipality of Hilders, Rhön GmbH, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön, and Rhön Club ensured a diverse range of hikes, cultural activities, local music, food, and community gatherings. A total of 15 guided hikes were offered, catering to various levels of difficulty, and all were fully booked.

Experienced hiking guides accompanied the groups during the event, providing valuable insights into the scenic Rhön mountains. The market town of Hilders, which hosted the Rhön Hiking Day for the second time, proved to be an ideal setting for the festivities, with its picturesque surroundings and welcoming atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of the Baumelbank on the extra tour "The Hilders." The traditional baton handover also took place, symbolically passing from Hilders to Rhön GmbH for the planning of the 20th anniversary of the HIGH RHÖN in 2026. The baton was passed on to all participating municipalities, with more details to follow soon.

Mayor Ronny Güngel praised the Rhön Hiking Day as a significant event for the region, while event organizer Anna Woytaszek from the municipality of Hilders emphasized the importance of teamwork for events like the Rhön Hiking Day. Antje Meyer from Rhön GmbH described the Rhön Hiking Day as a piece of lived regionality.

Feedback from hikers was overwhelmingly positive, praising the varied route guidance, the variety of offers, and the warm care extended by the organisers. The Rhön Hiking Day was described as a real highlight of the hiking season in 2025.

For those seeking detailed and accurate highlights or the event schedule for the 15th Rhön Hiking Day in 2025, it is recommended to check the official Rhön event websites, local tourism offices in Hilders, or dedicated festival announcements closer to the event date, as such information may not be publicly published far in advance.

Delighted hikers lauded the Rhön Hiking Day as a blend of outdoor-living and home-and-garden experiences, thanks to the engaging market town of Hilders serving as their temporary abode, offering an array of cultural activities, local music, and sumptuous food. With the successful completion of the event, travel enthusiasts are now eagerly looking forward to the 20th anniversary of the HIGH RHÖN in 2026, fueled by the positive momentum and picturesque landscapes that the Rhön mountains present.
