Summer has finally arrived in Gelendzhik, and the bustling resort is brimming with vacationers. Although the water is yet to reach its peak temperature, the city is buzzing with activity. Let's take a tour of the beaches, embankment, and more on the first day of summer.

A Seasonal Chill

While the waters are devoid of oil spills, they still carry a nippy chill. The Black Sea is still hesitant to warm up, with temperatures hovering around +18 degrees at the shore. Roman Vilfand, the scientific director of Russia's Hydrometeorological Center, predicts that genuinely pleasant water temperatures on the Krasnodar Territory's Black Sea coast won't materialize until the second half of June, around the 15th to 20th.

A Sunny Day for the Books

Meanwhile, vacationers are soaking up the sun on the beach, lounging on sunbeds, strolling leisurely along the embankment, and catching up over coffee in cafes. Under the dappled shade of towering pine trees, life is simple and sweet. Children are running amok, building sandcastles, and playing in parks and playgrounds, celebrating International Children's Day.

Gelendzhik has already welcomed a commendable 450,000 tourists so far this year, marking a 10% increase from the same period last year. The city aims to host over 4.7 million guests by 2025.

The beaches in Gelendzhik are sparkling clean, an assurance from the city's mayor, Aleksey Bogodistov. Weekly inspections yield exemplary results; water, sand, and soil samples all meet the required standards.

Sampling the Sea

Rospotrebnadzor has set up 22 monitoring points along the coast to ensure the quality of seawater. Of these, 13 are positioned within Gelendzhik Bay, stretching from Arkhipo-Osipovka to Kabardinka. Around 1270 samples were taken, all in compliance with regulatory norms.

The sanitary and epidemiological situation in Gelendzhik is satisfactory, and swimming in the sea is allowed. All that remains is for the water to warm up to that balmy summer temperature.
