Gathering Enthusiasts of Ramen!
This summer, the innovative Japanese cultural destination, Los Angeles, located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028, is offering a feast for ramen lovers of all ages. The program, designed to immerse visitors in the world of ramen, offers a unique blend of culinary experiences, exhibitions, and educational events.
Yuko Kaifu, President of Los Angeles, stated that the summer program offers a deeper dive into the many intricacies of the ramen dish. The highlight of the program is the current exhibition, "The Art of the Ramen Bowl," showcasing imaginative porcelain ramen bowls and spoons (renge) designed by world-renowned artists. The exhibition, which runs daily through Tuesday, July 5, includes an introduction to the noodle dish and its ceramic bowl origin from Mino, a major Japanese ceramics center.
The "The Art of the Ramen Bowl" Exhibition is anchored by a giant, Instagram-worthy ramen bowl from Iwasaki Mokei. Visitors can also explore the Mino-Ware Popup Shop, open on Saturdays and Sundays, through July 3. The shop features hand-crafted ceramic bowls from Mino, presented in collaboration with TOIRO. A limited-time popup shop at Los Angeles sells these hand-crafted ceramic bowls from Mino, Japan's largest producer of ramen bowls.
In addition to the exhibition, Los Angeles is transforming its spaces into a fully immersive ramen experience. RAMEN DISCOVERIES | A Popup Series offers a culinary collaboration highlighting regional ramens. The popup, available for booking here through July 31, explores a vast array of ramen flavors and the breadth of different bowls that hold the noodle dish.
The summer program also includes uncovering and dissecting the anatomy of ramen. Visitors can learn about the origins of the ramen bowl (donburi) at Los Angeles. Ramen-related books are available in both the physical and digital library of the website. Los Angeles also offers ramen-related content, including exhibition-related webinars and articles.
Two special ramen events are taking place this summer. The Summer Cold Ramen Special at Shin-Sen-Gumi 2GO Gardena, available from July 1 through July 31, features a dan-dan style cold ramen with various toppings and sauce options, available for dine-in, to-go, and drive-thru. The Hakata Ramen Gardena 29th Anniversary Week at Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen, from July 14 to July 20, offers the signature Hakata Ramen at a special price of $8 (normally $13.75), during lunch and dinner hours, dine-in only.
