flydubai increases European reach with addition of 4 new flight routes

Dubai-based carrier, flydubai, expands its European network with the launch of flights to four new destinations. From September this year, the airline will commence operations to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, and Iasi, the third-largest city in Romania. In a strategic move, flydubai will also introduce flights to Riga, Latvia's capital, and Vilnius, Lithuania's capital, starting December 2025.

The newly-elected destinations will swell flydubai's network to 35 destinations within 20 European countries. With the launch of flights to Iasi International Airport (IAS) in Romania, flydubai will become the first United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier to offer direct flights between Dubai and Romania.

Flydubai's expansion into these regions reflects its commitment to opening under-served markets and stimulating free trade and tourism. According to flydubai CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, the airline aims to strengthen the UAE's trade and cultural links and support Dubai's position as an international aviation hub.

Flydubai's debut in the Baltic region will comprise direct services to Riga International Airport (RIX) in Latvia and Vilnius International Airport (VNO) in Lithuania, extending its network beyond 100 destinations. The diversified network now boasts more than 135 destinations, with 75% of these being underserved routes from Dubai.

Two weekly flights to Chisinau and Iasi will operate from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB), while three weekly flights to Vilnius and Riga will take off from Terminal 3. Furthermore, Emirates will codeshare on all four routes, facilitating seamless connections for passengers through Dubai's international aviation hub.

The upcoming flights are now available for booking on the flydubai website, app, contact center, and through travel partners. Additionally, flydubai plans to train future pilots, with the first batch scheduled to commence at the end of 2025.

  1. The new destinations in Europe, Chisinau and Iasi, will broaden flydubai's network to 35 destinations within 20 countries, adding to their existing 135-destination network.
  2. With the introduction of flights to Iasi International Airport in Romania, flydubai becomes the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights between Dubai and Romania.
  3. flydubai's expansion into the Baltic region will include direct services to Riga International Airport in Latvia and Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania, extending their network beyond 100 destinations.
  4. flydubai's upcoming flights to Chisinau, Iasi, Riga, and Vilnius can now be booked on their website, app, contact center, and through travel partners, and passengers can benefit from codeshare services with Emirates to conveniently connect through Dubai's international aviation hub.
