Event Exhibiting Unique Tribal Art and Culture of Bastar in Chhattisgarh Commences Today
The Bastar Pandum 2025, a 22-day long cultural festival, is set to commence in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday. Organized by the Chhattisgarh government, this event aims to preserve the art, culture, and tradition of the Bastar tribes for future generations.
The festival will serve as a platform for tribal artists in Bastar to showcase their talent and provide a stage for various competitions in seven areas: tribal dances, folk songs, crafts, musical instruments, food and beverages, traditional attire, and more.
The competitions will be divided into three phases, with an expert committee responsible for choosing the winner in each category. Prizes will be distributed to the winners during the event.
In addition to the cultural competitions, the Bastar Pandum 2025 will also feature traditional tribal cultural performances and rituals, reflecting the distinctive customs, arts, and folklore of the Bastar tribes.
The Bastar Pandum 2025 is part of a broader effort to showcase tribal culture and promote traditional sports under initiatives like the rebranded "Khelo India Tribal Games," which evolved from the Bastar Olympics. This event embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Kheloge India, Jeetoge India," aiming to turn grassroots enthusiasm into a national cultural and sports movement involving over 1.65 lakh tribal athletes.
The event will foster community participation, cultural pride, and increased visibility for tribal heritage nationally and internationally.
