In the heart of Pforzheim, the annual intercultural film project "Die Mischung macht's" continues to shine a light on the personal life stories of migrants and youth, promoting integration and community engagement. This year, the project entered its second edition, showcasing the experiences and contributions of young members of Pforzheim's intercultural society[1][2].

The series, presented at the Kommunales Kino (KoKi) in Pforzheim, features films that delve into the personal stories of integration through engagement, such as youth sports coaching or cultural involvement[3]. Post-film conversations provide an opportunity for deeper understanding and community connection[3][4].

The second episode of the series, presented on October 22, 2023, focused on Miraldine Mambueni (17) and Yasin Gürbüz (22), both members of the Pforzheim Youth Council[2]. Both have experienced discrimination throughout their lives, yet they continue to make significant contributions to their community[2].

Yasin Gürbüz, the grandson of Turkish guest workers, is a native of Pforzheim and is currently studying business administration at the University of Pforzheim[2]. Miraldine Mambueni, whose parents are from Congo and Angola, is a native of Pforzheim and is currently completing her secondary school education[2].

The Pforzheim Youth Council was the patron of this event, with the Mayor of Pforzheim, Peter Boch, lending his support[1]. The Communal Cinema collaborates with the Evangelical Adult Education, the Asylum Forum, and many other partners for this series[1].

Miraldine Mambueni views her involvement in the Youth Council as the best decision, as it allows her to contribute and prove herself[1]. Yasin Gürbüz sees his voluntary work as enriching and beneficial for making life a little better[1].

The new season of "Die Mischung macht's" focuses more on the younger generation, offering insights into their lives and experiences[1]. Kira Hulsmann, who is half German and half Moldovan, has not personally experienced exclusion, but she acknowledges the importance of such projects in fostering understanding and inclusion[1].

Fatima Hasso, a Syrian refugee, was moved after the film and questioned when one feels like they belong, even for third-generation residents who still face discrimination[1]. The project has been providing insights into the lives of migrants, refugees, and Pforzheimers for over twelve years[1].

The intercultural film project continues to be a valuable platform for promoting understanding, integration, and community participation in Pforzheim. As the series grows, so does the potential for positive change and a more inclusive society.
