Eataly Prepares to Establish Presence at New York's JFK Airport as Initial Triad of Domestic Travel Destinations
Eataly Expands to JFK Airport, Offering a Taste of Italy
Get ready to savor a slice of Italy at John F. Kennedy International Airport! The famous Italian marketplace, Eataly, is set to open three locations in terminals 4, 5, and 8 this year, marking their first venture into travel destinations.
Owned by diversified European investment company Investindustrial, Eataly promises tailor-made spaces for each terminal, just like their distinctive New York City locations in downtown, Flatiron, and Soho. According to Eataly's North America CEO, Tommaso Brusò, these openings are "historic" due to the potential foot traffic-JFK served 63.3 million passengers last year.
Avolta, the world's biggest airport retailer, is responsible for operating these Eataly units. Avolta has expanded its JFK footprint by securing contracts at Terminal 5 through concessions developer Fraport USA, who were appointed by primary airline tenant JetBlue. This move is part of a $19 billion revamp that includes four major terminal projects underway or completed at JFK.
Joining Eataly in Terminal 5 will be a variety of other dining options. HMSHost, a subsidiary of Avolta, has won a 10-year contract to overhaul the terminal's dining experience, debuting six restaurants spanning over 7,800 square feet. The lineup includes Eataly, Benateri's, Big Bourbon Bar NYC, Dos Toros Taqueria, and Chopt, ensuring a wide range of delicious cuisines for travelers to enjoy.

Johnson, Avolta's president and CEO of North America, said, "2025 will be a landmark year for Hudson and HMSHost as we expand our retail and F&B operations in several terminals at JFK."
Eataly, known for its Italian culinary artistry and Made in Italy essence, has proven to be a popular concept with locations in cities like London, Milan, and several in the United States. With successful sales of €656 million ($744 million) in 2023 and the North American market now generating a 61% revenue share, Eataly is moving forward with plans for international development and expansion in major cities worldwide.
