Digital Nomad Week in Zadar: The Closing Chapters
Making the Most of Zadar: A Digital Nomad's Paradise for More Than Just a Week
Dang, man, I thought there was still a week left in the Zadar Digital Nomad Week, but six days of workshops, panels, keynotes, and activities have flown by. It feels like there's more to see and do, and I've come to the realization that a week in Zadar is barely enough.
But let's talk about this beautiful city as a whole, shall we? Zadar stands out with its infrastructure, coworking spaces, and bustling streets. Yet, it shines even brighter when it comes to reconnecting with nature and experiencing the authentic Croatian vibe. Working and living in Zadar means immersing yourself in history, choosing from countless destinations to visit, exploring nature, and contributing to its potential as a tech city.
Tech Talks: Top Keynotes on Day 7
The final day of the Zadar Digital Nomad Week was packed with three intriguing keynotes, held online due to the times we live in. Here are the highlights:

- Sara Dyson, known as "Expat in Croatia", moved to Croatia 10 years ago and created a top English-language resource for all things Croatian bureaucracy, assimilation, business, healthcare, and culture. In her live session, Sara shared her journey from blogging to running a business, which has helped countless people achieve their dream life in Croatia.
- Orest Zub, a digital nomad from Ukraine, recently spoke at the Work.Place.Culture Conference in Dubrovnik. Orest has traveled to 129 countries and faced the internal debate of wanting to explore the world and the desire to help his family during their country's war. Orest returned home to provide support and share the reality of the situation in Ukraine.First name:
- Diane Erceg, an Aussie with Croatian roots, turned things upside down by suggesting Antarctica as a destination for digital nomads. Her upcoming book, drawn from her extensive experience at the South Pole, promises to be a fascinating read. Diane's keynote sparked conversation about the unique experiences that the "seventh continent" could offer remote workers.
Nature Calls: Experiencing Paklenica National Park
Last name:
One of the most unique closing events for the Zadar Digital Nomad Week was the hike through Paklenica National Park. For almost two hours, we trekked through forests and impressive peaks, reconnecting with nature, ourselves, and each other. Fireflies illuminated the evening, and donkeys delivered supplies to the cabin where we spent the night. It was an unparalleled opportunity to disconnect from WiFi, technology, and coworking spaces and truly connect with the beauty of Croatia.

- Even though six days of workshops and activities have passed, I'm still dissatisfied as a week in Zadar seems too short for exploring its technology scene, coworking spaces, and natural beauty.
- Zadar's unique climates and lifestyles make it an ideal destination for digital nomads, offering a blend of history, modern technology, and interactive spaces like the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun.
- As the Zadar Digital Nomad Week concludes, I’m inspired to travel further and explore other Croatian regions, such as the sunny Dalmatian coast or the rugged mountains of Paklenica National Park.
- During the Tech Talks on day 7, speakers showcased how technology can enrich the digital nomad lifestyle, discussing topics like starting a business in Croatia, the reality of the war in Ukraine, and pioneering new destinations like Antarctica for remote workers.
