Digital advertising blitz for Romanian tourism in Doha spans a week

Romania has kicked off an exciting tourism promotion campaign in Doha, Qatar, from July 21 to 27, 2025. Organized by the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT), the campaign aims to rekindle interest in Romanian destinations among tourists from the Gulf region.

The initiative is a strategic partnership with Dooha Media, Doha's first integrated digital media company, which has provided free exposure on high-visibility digital billboards, including the curved screens of Tawar Mall and the ICONO screen situated at one of the city's busiest intersections.

The promotional content features video clips produced by filmmaker Charlie Ottley, owned by the ministry. These captivating videos showcase the unique beauty and attractions of Romania, with the aim of increasing its international visibility as a tourist destination.

Qatar, currently undergoing rapid economic expansion with a strong presence of multinational companies and growing interest in creative, innovative, and tech-driven industries, presents a prime opportunity for Romania to boost its tourism sector. The campaign is expected to attract not only Gulf tourists but also the local population and expatriates interested in travel.

Marian Văduva, marketing and representation advisor within MEDAT, has confirmed that the partnership was established following discussions at international tourism fairs, specifically identified during the FITUR Madrid event earlier in 2025. This marks a significant step in revitalizing Romania’s presence in the Gulf tourism markets, as it has been absent from Gulf tourism fairs with a national stand since 2019.

The campaign is expected to have a broader impact, potentially leading to growth in inbound tourism from the Gulf region and fostering economic and tourism ties between the two nations. The ministry's goal is to increase awareness and attractiveness of Romania's unique destinations among Gulf visitors, fostering collaboration between Romanian tourism operators and international agencies, particularly from the Arab world.

In conclusion, the campaign in Doha is a focused effort to capitalize on Qatar’s growing economic and travel market and to renew interest in Romania among Gulf travelers. The initiative promises to bring new opportunities for collaboration and to contribute significantly to the revitalization of Romania's tourism sector.

Travelers from the Gulf region interested in exploring unique destinations might find themselves drawn to Romania, as captivating videos showcasing the country's beauty are currently displayed on high-visibility digital billboards in Doha, Qatar. This strategic partnership between Romania and Doha Media is part of an initiative by the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, aiming to expand Romania's reach in the travel market and entice a surge of international tourists seeking an exceptional lifestyle experience.
