The Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Labour has disclosed a marked increase in financial support for inclusion enterprises over the past five years, with expenditure nearly doubling from €7.63 million in 2019 to an estimated €13.5 million in 2024. Green MP Daniel Köbler sought clarification on this matter.
According to the ministry's response to Köbler's request, the surge is primarily attributed to escalating salary costs. The ministry stated, "The Integration Office has significantly bolstered its support for inclusion enterprises in recent years, a development propelled by the escalating crises such as Covid-19, the energy crisis, and inflation."
Inclusion enterprises refer to businesses, operations, or departments employing at least 30% individuals with disabilities, actively participating in the region's economic life. There are currently approximately 1,100 jobs available for individuals with severe disabilities in these enterprises.
The number of inclusion enterprises in Rhineland-Palatinate has remained stable at around 70 since 2019, with 69 such enterprises recorded in 2023 and the same number in 2024. Collectively, these enterprises offer employment opportunities for 1,071 individuals with severe disabilities.
The Integration Office offers assistance to interested parties interested in establishing an inclusion enterprise. The ministry explained, "In addition to providing investment cost subsidies of up to €30,000 for each person with disabilities hired, [the office] offers ongoing personnel cost subsidies and a flat rate of €350 per employed individual with disabilities."
