Alliance Air Introduces Flight Service Between Shimla and Kullu

A new flight service, launched by Alliance Air, is revolutionising travel in Himachal Pradesh. The service connects Shimla and Kullu, two of the region's most popular tourist destinations, offering a direct and convenient air link between the two hill stations.

The new service operates four times a week, with flights departing from Shimla at 7.40 am and arriving at 8.30 am. The return flight from Kullu to Shimla departs at 8.50 am and lands at 9.40 am. The flight from Delhi to Shimla departs at 6.10 am and arrives at 7.20 am, while the flight from Shimla to Delhi departs at 10 am and arrives at 11.10 am. The service is operated using an ATR 42-600 aircraft.

The launch of this direct flight service is expected to have a significant positive impact on tourism in Himachal Pradesh. Improved connectivity will make it easier for tourists to move between these two popular destinations, reducing travel times and inconvenience. This could encourage more tourists to explore both areas during a single trip, increasing the length of stays, overall spending, and the number of travelers visiting the valley, particularly during the peak season from March to June.

The new flight service also attracts not only leisure tourists but also business travelers and short-term visitors who prefer quick and convenient travel. This could help diversify the tourism base and reduce dependency on only road transport.

The economic benefits of increased tourist arrivals driven by better connectivity can be substantial. More business for local hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and transport services can lead to job creation and improved livelihoods for communities in Shimla, Kullu, and surrounding areas.

However, it's important to consider sustainability as well. The new flight service may necessitate careful planning around environmental sustainability to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem, which is a major draw for visitors.

In other related news, the Bhuntar airport will now conduct two scheduled flights each day due to the new service. Establishing air connectivity between Dharamsala and Kullu is also suggested to cater to high-end tourists. However, a flight linking the state capital with Dharamsala and Kullu was turned down by the Election Commission of India in November.

The inaugural flight was welcomed with a water cannon salute on Sunday. Prices for booking tickets on the airline's website include web charges of Rs 350. It's worth noting that prices for Delhi-Kullu flights seldom drop below Rs 10,000, while the cheapest fare for a 70-minute flight between Shimla and Delhi is Rs 3,362. The flight from Kullu to Delhi via Chandigarh typically costs between Rs 14,900 and Rs 26,450.

In conclusion, the new direct flight service between Shimla and Kullu is likely to enhance tourism inflow, provide greater convenience for travelers, and generate positive economic impacts for Himachal Pradesh's hill destinations, reinforcing the region's status as a premier tourism hub in northern India.

This new direct flight service between Shimla and Kullu is expected to encourage more tourists to visit these hill stations, particularly during the peak season, as it offers a quick and convenient travel option for both leisure and business travelers. Moreover, exploring offbeat destinations like these hill stations could become a part of unique and lifestyle-focused travel experiences for tourists.
