South African Airways (SAA) is set to enhance connectivity for travelers in the Western Cape with the launch of a new direct service between Cape Town (CPT) and Mauritius (MRU) on Tuesday, 9 December 2025. The service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The adjustment in the flight schedule was carefully developed through rigorous engagement with South African tour operator partners. The new route supports the broader tourism objectives for both South Africa and Mauritius.

SAA's CEO, Professor John Lamola, has stated that the connection between Cape Town and Mauritius is a significant achievement for the company. Tebogo Tsimane, the Chief Commercial Officer, has further emphasized that the convenience of the flight schedule fulfills the company's mission to offer customers greater flexibility and convenience.

The outbound flight departs Cape Town at 09:25 AM and arrives in Mauritius at 4:30 PM, with a total flight duration of approximately five hours. The return leg departs Mauritius at 5:20 PM and arrives back in Cape Town at 9:30 PM.

Bookings for the service are now open at www.flysaa.com or through accredited travel agents. Passengers can choose from two departure times for the outbound flight.

Due to seasonal demand, the service between Cape Town and Mauritius will temporarily operate twice weekly from mid-January to mid-March 2026. The new route is seen as a means for SAA to promote leisure travel across the region.

This new route marks a strategic expansion of SAA's network, aiming to offer greater flexibility and convenience to customers. The flight schedule was designed to align with traveler preferences and peak holiday planning.

For the most precise departure times, it is advisable to check directly with South African Airways’ official website or reservation systems closer to the launch date for updated scheduling information. Current sources confirm the dates and frequency but do not specify exact timings.

The new service between Cape Town and Mauritius is expected to enhance connectivity for travelers in the Western Cape, providing a convenient and direct travel option for those wishing to explore the beautiful island nation of Mauritius.

The new route, operated by South African Airways (SAA), aligns with tourism objectives for both South Africa and Mauritius, contributing to the broader tourism industry. With the expansion of SAA's network, the new service offers greater travel options, especially for those interested in leisure travel across the region. To facilitate the lifestyle of travelers, the flight schedule is designed with departure times that cater to peak holiday planning, ensuring moments of convenience.
